CORPORATE INFORMATION

In 2010, WOWOW established the Broadcasting Ethics Council with the aim of ensuring that we broadcast appropriate programs by discussing broadcasting ethics-related issues.

To maintain both the quality and quantity of the content we broadcast and transmit at a high level, it is necessary for us to ask ourselves questions such as "is this acceptable?" or "will this cause harm to someone?". Take dramas, for example. We give serious consideration in particular to dramas based on true stories. What kind of problems could occur when we broadcast these? Will anyone be hurt by them? How will customers feel about them? By reflecting on the various issues, we determine the message that we truly want to convey. As a media company, we must always be seriously devoted to tackling these questions.

Recognizing the public nature and significant social influence of broadcasting, with the aim of protecting fundamental human rights while preserving freedom of speech and expression, the Council discusses how to maintain and improve broadcasting ethics and addresses content-related issues pertaining to broadcasting ethics in a proactive, timely, and targeted manner.
